Rape culture is a culture that devalues women and victims, does not understand consent, belittles rape allegations, and pushes aside the importance of mutually enjoyable sex, consent and pleasure.

I think it’s really hard to nail down a specific definition of rape culture because it stems from so many dozens of things, and encompasses so much in and of itself, but this is a nice, concise, simplified definition. I think that the bit about mutually enjoyable sex is important; the fact that womens’ sexuality is so demonized (and the existence of the virgin/whore dichotomy) in our culture is really important and obviously is a factor in the way rape victims are received when they come forward.
